Diversity in School: Immigrants and the Educational Performance of US-born Students

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

We plan to study the effect of exposure to immigrants on educational outcomes of US-born students using a large data panel combining population-level administrative data from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) Warehouse and birth records. This data contains standardized tests in reading and mathematics, measures of attendance and disciplinary incidents, as well as several demographics including the country of origin of the child and the language spoken at home. This allows us to identify first generation immigrants, children born outside the United States, and native-born, children born in the United States and speaking English at home.
