Project Details

Description

The purpose of the proposed study is to investigate the operation of the antecedent retrieval mech- anism in the online processing of Gapping, an elliptical construction that has received relatively little attention in the sentence processing literature. Specifically, this study aims to improve our understanding of how morphological, syntactic, and argument-structural cues interact when the parser identifies a Gapping configuration and then searches for and retrieves its antecedent from its memory store of the preceding context.
