Dynamics with a combinatorial bent

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Overview of plans. The PI is eligible for one quarter of leave in 2016-17, and with outside funding this can be extended to a full year's leave. For both scientific and personal reasons, the PI plana to spend the leave at her home institution, Northwestern University. Northwestern has an extremely active group in dynamical systems and two postdoctoral fellows joined the department in fall 2015 to work with the PI. The leave will allow the PI to complete several major ongoing projects (with collaborators Bernard Host, Alejandro Maass, and Van Cyr), and to begin work on several projects still in their early stages (with collaborators Nikos Frantzikinakis, Anthony Quas, Ayse Sahin, and Wenbo Sun). The PI plans extended trips to visit Host in France, Maass in Chile, and Cyr in Pennsylvania, and each of them has committed to visiting Northwestern for periods between two weeks and one month during 2016-17. Additionally, the other collaborators listed have all committed to visit for shorter periods during the year.
