Early elementary Science Partnership
Project Summary
Description
• Quarterly collaboration sessions (total 12 hours) designed to establish a method to continue supporting improvements in science teaching and learning within participating schools;
• Sessions based on a distributed leadership approach and provide activities that engage multi-grade teams in professional development on science content (curriculum alignment), science pedagogy (evaluate student work, share practices), and set quarterly science goals (diagnosing and designing science routines).
Northwestern University Scope of Work
a. Professor McGee will facilitate quarterly collaboration meetings supporting school administrators and selected teachers in implementing the schools’ science plan; 12 hours of support for school leadership teams in 2 schools (Martin A. Ryerson Elementary and South Loop Elementary School).
b. Professor McGee will support school administrators and teacher leaders to access a wider range of resources and experts for answering inquiries and providing feedback on the school’s science plan.
c. Professor McGee will ensure that the school-based work enhances and reinforces the other professional development delivered to teachers.
