Description
A long-standing problem in modern materials science is the mismatch between nano- and macroscale material properties. In particular, this problem has severely hindered the development of lightweight carbon-based structural materials based on graphene and carbon nanotubes: while these nanocarbons possess exceptional strength and mechanical stiffness, their composite materials exhibit dramatically reduced acroscopic mechanical properties.
