Effects of River Flow Variability and Sediment Dynamics on Habitat Stability Under Changing Climate and Hydropower Development

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Objectives (1) Develop models to determine how climate change and land development impact flow variability, river network connectivity, and sediment dynamics. (2) Synthesize and couple existing observations of climate, rainfall, river flow, and suspended sediment within the Magdalena River to enhance TNC’s basin-wide hydropower and land conservation strategies. (3) Document and share best practices and methodologies learned in the Magdalena River Basin in the form of guides and toolkits that can be used and distributed by TNC’s Global Water Team.
