Project Details
Description
The stated goal of the WHF is to reduce premature CVD death globally by at least 25% by 2025 in alignment with the WHO target of a 25 percent reduction in premature NCD mortality in the same timeframe. In order to realize this potential, we aim to leverage the capacity, scope, and mission of the World Heart Federation to develop global capacity among emerging leaders from 50 to 100 countries who are actively working in CVD prevention and control. These individuals will have developed expertise in evaluation of health systems, identification of barriers and facilitators for implementation of evidence based secondary prevention, and treatments for CVD; and develop evidence-based policy research; and activism by influencing critical stakeholders including policymakers, legislators, and media. These combined efforts are all geared toward achievement of the WHO target of “25 by 25”.
