Enabling Technology for a Biomimetic Artificial Retinal Chemical Synapse Chip

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Background: The goal of this project is the development of a biocompatible interface that will be capable of chemical stimulation of retinas that have undergone photoreceptor degeneration. The approach is to fabricate the device at the University of Illinois at Chicago and to test its functionality in photoreceptor degenerate retinas ex vivo. The experimental work will be performed at the University of Illinois under the supervision of Drs. Laxman Saggere (project PI) and John Troy (NU PI).
