Project Details
Description
This project is an RCT aiming to investigate the impacts of an procedural justice intervention for police officers in the Atlantic City Police Department. The intervention is called "Enhancing Procedural Justice Via Substantiation", and the goal is to have officers use evidence to justify their actions. For instance, officers making stops at a dangerous intersection will not simply say "I stopped you for speeding," but will provide statistics about the accidents at that intersection to explain that it is particularly dangerous, and so on. Citizens who are stopped will be surveyed by researchers to determine whether this substantiation positively affects their perceptions of officer treatment.
