Project Details
Description
Grantee shall evaluate mammography screening rates, diagnostic resolution and loss to follow-up for patients with abnormal screening mammograms and time to cancer treatment entry and completion for patients diagnosed with cancer. Grantee shall:
Analyze data for a set of communities comparable to the targeted service areas that will employ navigators. Changes between baseline and follow-up periods will be used to compare screening rates for Medicaid or uninsured women of appropriate age across testing the hypothesis that patient navigation services increased screening rates in the targeted pilot areas.
Examine pre-program versus post-program differences in time to diagnostic resolution and loss to follow-up for patients with abnormal screening mammograms and time to cancer treatment and completion for patients diagnosed with cancer. The design for these studies will be a pre-post comparison within the targeted communities, testing the hypothesis that time to follow-up and loss to follow-up rates were reduced by navigation service delivery.
Employ survey tools and log books for navigators to utilize in order to perform a more complete evaluation of what navigators actually did in each site and what barriers to care were experienced.
