Project Details
Description
The objective of this project is to investigate the fatigue behavior of rubber materials used in vibration reduction applications under constant cyclic loading with the ultimate goal to predict fatigue life through modeling based on these fatigue studies. Vulcanized and carbon-filled rubber materials (such as NR and SBR) will be provided by BIAM – the intent is to explore the effect of strain-induced crystallization on crack initiation and propagation and fatigue behavior. One or two staff members from BIAM will work at Northwestern as part of the project.
