Fogarty Global Health Training Fellowship Program

Northwestern University (NU), represented by the Center for Global Health, will be a core member of a consortium has been formed with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston University, and University of New Mexico. Dr, Robert Murphy will serve as the BU PI and will be assisted by Dr. Mark Huffman. Drs. Murphy and Huffman will assist the consortium to foster multidisciplinary global health hubs at multiple sites in Africa and Asia that will be leaders in supporting training and conducting innovation research for infectious and non-communicable diseases. Dr. Murphy will serve on the Executive Committee along with the overall PI, Wafaie Fawzi (Harvard) and the other two co-leaders, Davidson Hamer (PI, BU) and Douglas Perkins (PI, UNM) This committee will have overall responsibility for the program, including outreach to increase awareness of global health as a career; recruitment of individuals to the Training Program; and achieving milestones at the level of the program overall. The four Project Leaders will also be responsible for interfacing with the Advisory Committee, Selection and Steering Committee and Mentoring Committee. Drs. Murphy and Huffman will also help oversee the peer mentorship program to help provide high quality educational experiences for both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees as needed. They will provide input to trainees in their respective countries on their research projects, facilitate cross-country collaborative and educational activities, provide peer review feedback, and facilitate dissemination of research findings locally and internationally.
