Food Allergy Registry Dissemination Project

Registries of patients with food allergy represent an often untapped research opportunity to track food allergic cohorts over time, allowing for longitudinal analyses as well as identification of patients for clinical trials. In cooperation with Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE), researchers at Northwestern University will leverage established food allergy (FA) registries from both institutions to describe, compare, and follow food allergy patients over the course of an 18 month project period. This research will lead to four published manuscripts all of which uniquely contribute to the existing FA literature. Proposed paper topics include intentional versus unintentional food allergic reactions, comorbidities, family history of FA, and outgrown FA. Researchers will also develop two new surveys for inclusion into FARE’s existing registry that will enable direct comparisons between FARE and NU registries on topics such as diet history, purchasing habits, and food allergy treatment.
