Forecasting Emergent Phenomena with Human Computer Collaboration

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

In Task C1, Prof. Uzzi and a supervised postdoc will evaluate the research designs and tests particularly those designs involving human subject data collection. Specifically, they will assess the survey questions used to collective intelligence signals about future risks from crowds. In Task C2, they will design a pilot study and will assure proper methodology in terms of item design, survey design, and appropriate sampling. In Task C3, Prof. Uzzi and the postdoc will provide pilot study access to and administer surveys to crowds of executives from his school’s executive education program over two semesters. This population contains on average 70% c-level executives from all types of firms, both domestically and internationally, plus 5-10% CEOs of notable companies, 5% physicians, 5% attorneys, and 10% entrepreneurs. Finally in tasks CD6 and D5 year 4, Prof. Uzzi will collaborate on data analysis, writing, and publication with Prof. Szymanski and Dr. Bakdash.
