Project Details
Description
Our preliminary data indicates that statins, the cholesterol-lowering drugs, inhibited expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF). CTGF is a major regulator of hypertrophic scarring. We hypothesize that pharmacological inhibition of CTGF expression with topical statins diminishes hypertrophic scar. The objective of this proposal is to investigate the repurposed medication of statins that are already in clinical use systemically for topical treatment of hypertrophic scar.
