Fractional Anisotropy Magnetic Resonance Imaging to Evaluate BMP Downregulation as a Preventative Therapy for Cerebral Palsy

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This is a translational research project that addresses perinatal brain injury using a mouse model. BMP signaling will be downregulated after HI injury by administering the drug Tamoxifen (Tam) to genetically engineered mice already present in our lab (NG2CreERT2; BMPR2fl/fl mice); upon receipt of this drug, expression of BMP receptor subunit 2 is blocked consequently preventing BMP signaling. The project will involve MRI and behavioral studies as well as histologic studies.
