Friction prediction modeling of Honed and LST treated ring and liner lubricated contact

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Goal: The goal of this project is the application of NU simulation tool to predict the friction behavior of honed and LST treated liner and to compare the outcome with experimental measurements conducted on the same liner surfaces at ANL. The following are specific tasks Task I: Simulation of lubrication and prediction of friction in ring and honed liner contact pairs in reciprocating sliding. Task II: Simulation of lubrication and prediction of friction in ring and LST treated liner contact pairs in reciprocating sliding. Task III: Comparison of simulation prediction with experimental results for the two types of liner surface treatments Deliverables: Results of simulation predictions and comparison with experimental results
