Description

The goal of the work to be completed an Northwestern University is to quantitatively compare the ability of biological olfactory system and the bio-electronic nose to classify odorants. We will compare the detection, accuracy and resolution of trained animals (wild type and transgenic mice) vs. signals derived from the bio-electronic nose taken from wildtype and transgenic animals. To meet this goal, the Bozza lab will characterize the performance of wild-type and transgenic mice. The comparison will include a broad set of odorants, including complex odorants, mixtures and masking odors. We also plan to test specific targets of interest, as indicated by the agency.
