Group A Streptococcus Molecular Epidemiology during COVID-19 Pandemic

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

We hypothesize that the COVID-19 pandemic has altered the epidemiology of GAS infections: 1) COVID mitigation strategies have reduced exposure to GAS, reducing cases of acute pharyngitis, asymptomatic pharyngeal carriage, and invasive infections; and 2) reduced exposure is associated with changes in genomic variability and heterogeneity (especially among emm types) at the local level.
