Hybrid Interior-Point/Active-Set PSCOPF Algorithms Exploiting Power System Characteristics

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This project provides funding to participate in the Grid Optimization Competition. The research will result in optimization methods and software for the preventive security constrained optimal power flow problem (PSCOPF). At the end of the funding period, we will participate in the Challenge 1 competition. We will develop a specialized optimization strategy that utilizes both interior-point and active-set algorithms and exploits the fact that very few constraints and contingencies are active, coupled with network reduction and system reformulation techniques.
