Project Details
Description
MHSPP does not provide direct clinical services to children. The primary service provided by MHSPP focuses on the Child Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) functional assessment tool. MHSPP assists DCFS in collecting, analyzing and reporting on CANS assessments given to DCFS children. MHSPP aggregates this data with CYSIS and other DCFS provider data. MHSPP maintains the DCFS statewide provider database and graphic information systems. In addition, MSHPP consults with DCFS on multiple behavioral health and child trauma issues. CANS data has been used by DCFS over the last several years to (1) facilitate treatment-planning for needed services; (2) validate decision making about placement; (3) help to inform agency and department decision making; and (4) monitor client and caregiver status and progress in placement/services.
