Description
Placement of long-acting reversible contraction (LARC) in the immediate postpartum period (IPLARC) 1,2,3,4,5 is a strategy to improve access to highly effective contraception and in turn, reduce unintended pregnancy; however, significant barriers to implementation of IPLARC remain in some hospitals including: navigating stocking devices and billing across insurance providers including Medicaid, Medicate Managed Care Organizations, and private insurers. In this project we aim to provide IPLARC Key Players Meetings (a gold standard in QI work where experts meet in person with hospital teams and their key stakeholders to problem solve and overcome barriers) to hospitals joining the ILPQC statewide initiative in 2019 to ensure all hospitals have needed support to navigate implementation and billing challenges, in order to provide access to IPLARC for all patients regardless of insurance, creating a replicable model for other states.
