Project Details
Description
As part of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) SAMHSA award TI083343-01 titled “Opioid Response Network,” this consultation will develop a decision support system (DSS) based on an agent-based modeling program created by Northwestern University. The DSS is designed to optimize a set of interventions to reduce overdose death and was previously tested to assess what activities had the greatest impact on overdose death during the COVID-19 pandemic. We will revise the model to develop a tool that optimizes interventions for the identified population under different scenarios to help the Pinellas Opioid Task Force make decisions about where to invest resources to reduce overdose.
As the prime for this consultation, we will work with the task force to design the questions, capture the data, run reports and provide interpretation and clarification of outputs from the DSS. The USF-Tampa Florida site we will be responsible for obtaining and maintaining the data used for analysis and model development Statewide and county level datasets may include Florida Department of Health Vital Statistics death data with cause of death, Florida State Mental Health entity (Department of Children and Families) claims data and state hospital data, Agency for Health Care Administration hospital discharge/emergency department data, and law enforcement data on arrests. We will collect information, analyze and write up information about the implementation process of key stakeholders. NW faculty will be responsible for design of the DSS, and running scenarios with the DSS.
