Project Details
Description
The current version of the tool (MFI v.1) includes the ability to dial in efficiency improvements based upon best practices (BP) and state-of-the-art (SOTA) to assess the impact on life cycle energy and emissions by industry and process. However, the tool does not include the potential that could be enabled by next generation processes. Transformational developments in next-generation manufacturing concepts hold great promise for revolutionary advances in energy efficiency and carbon abatement In order to take the greatest advantage of the potential of next generation materials (to provide equivalent service with lower life-cycle impacts), these materials must be produced via next generation manufacturing processes.
