Project Details
Description
Modern warfare and other military missions demand superior mastery of information, where information as well as
the underlying data is massive, interrelated, and forms gigantic information networks. Military networks are also
heterogeneous, resource-constrained, interacting and rapidly evolving, thereby posing great challenges for effective
analysis, operation, and adaptation of such networks. Furthermore, as illustrated by the NRC report [173], the challenges
posed by information networks must not be addressed in isolation; they demand a multi-disciplinary approach
that breaks new grounds and builds upon the research in communication, social, and cognitive networks. The success
of this program requires not only innovative thinking that will produce breakthroughs in fundamental research, but
also a team steeped in a culture of collaboration that appreciates insights and rewards of working with others.
