STATEMENT OF WORK PROCESSING SPUTUM SAMPLES FOR THE CHICAGO ICAC SITE Site investigator: Pedro C. Avila, MD. Northwestern University, Chicago. AIM: To process induced sputum samples collected from subjects in ICAC clinical trials conducted at the Chicago ICAC site (PI: Jacqueline Pongracic, Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago). BACKGROUND: The NIAID-funded Inner City Asthma Consortium (ICAC) investigators conduct multicenter clinical studies to advance our understanding in pathophysiology and to improve management of asthma in inner city populations. The Chicago site (PI: Jacqueline Pongracic, Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago) will conduct a clinical trial in which induced sputum samples will be collected. In this statement of work we indicate that Dr. Pedro Avila will supervise processing of these induced sputum samples in his lab following ICAC Manual of Operating Procedures and individual study protocols. We will be under Dr. Pongracic’s contract with the principal ICAC site, the University of Wisconsin. METHODS Process induced sputum samples following ICAC Manual of Operating Procedures and individual ICAC study protocols. TIMELINE: November 2013 – April 2014
