Institutional Theory and Platform Governance

    Project: Research project

    Project Details

    Description

This project proposes to investigate the extent to which the organizational tools and structures developed in institutional political science and constitutional theory—such as federalist and consocial arrangements for power-sharing, strong individual liberal rights, and independent judiciaries—may be adaptable for the purpose of platform governance. The ultimate research outputs will be a series of original publications written by the undersigned principal investigator. These will include at least one article, to be completed by Q2 2020, and one full-length book, to be completed by Q3 2021. These will draw on his expertise in the rule of law and constitutionalism as well as his personal experience in internet platform governance, to offer the first extended take on the problem of platform governance from the standpoint of institutional political and legal theory.
