Project Details
Description
Dr. Gordon is a Research Associate Professor with the Institute for Healthcare Studies and Division of Organ Transplantation in the Department of Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She served as an ad hoc reviewer for VA HSR&D grant applications on the Health Services Research Methodology, Care of Complex Chronic Conditions, General Health Services Research, and Equity and Women's Health study sections from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Gordon's combination of content expertise in chronic illness and self-care management, qualitative research methodology expertise, and familiarity with health services research within the VA context will allow her to provide unique insights into the conduct and interpretation of their collaborative research. Increasingly, VA HSRD research calls for mixed methods designs which include collection of qualitative data through interviews, surveys, observational data collection, review of text data from medical records, and innovative strategies such as photovoice, environmental scans, and think aloud protocols. The investigators in HSRD have limited training in these methods.
