We will develop a rigorous theoretical model for the Schwalow-Townes Linewidth (STL) of the superluminal ring laser using master equations, Langevin force operators, and a quantum mechanical finite division time domain propagator. We will also determine experimentally the STL of an SRL via the use of Integrated Photonic Technology for enhancing robustness and stability. The IPT based chip will contain the lasers, modulators, detectors and waveguides optimized for Rb wavelengths of 780 nm and 795 nm, and will be coupled to a dual-chamber miniature Rb vapor cell to realize the SRL. Furthermore, we will develop a comprehensive, density matrix based model for the SRL, and use it to determine the degree of stability of operating parameters that is needed for reaching the quantum noise limited performance.
