Project Details
Description
The USGS is supported under a contractual agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide technical assistance to partner agencies in Nepal. This project is focused on evaluation of proposal probabilistic seismic hazard assessment (PSHA) maps for Nepal, including technical training for Nepali partner agencies. The original work plan included funding for one or more Nepali partners to visit the US for training and implementation of methods developed by PI Seth Stein to evaluate PSHA maps. Due to pandemic-related travel restrictions, in-country training by USGS researchers and training visits to the US by Nepali partners have not been possible since early 2020. A mobility assignment will benefit the USGS because it will enable us to meet contractual agreements, supporting the PI to work on the project and provide remote training for Nepali partners.
