Professor Matthew Notowidigdo will serve as a Co-Chair for the Work of the Future Initiative at J-PAL North America. In this role he will assess the academic quality of the Initiative’s research agenda, lead the evaluation of projects proposed through the Initiative’s RFP cycles, liaise with the Initiative Sponsor or Sponsors on technical aspects of the Initiative, and work with Initiative staff to ensure the efficient management of Initiative procedures and funds. In addition, Professor Notowidigdo will partake in regular conference calls with his fellow Co-Chair and J-PAL staff members to discuss funded projects, future RFP cycles, as well as review any off-cycle proposals that are submitted. Lastly, he will work with his Co-Chair to prepare a literature review paper on the existing evidence on innovative strategies to overcome challenges in the labor market, and will supervise the contributions of a graduate student research assistant to the preparation of the review paper.
