Jackson Heart Study Field Center NHLBI-HV-13-10

The Jackson Heart Study renewal will continue the outstanding research that began with the initial contract which supported the recruitment and examination of African Americans in Jackson, MS. The renewal application will provide the opportunity for extended follow-up of study participants for the development of clinical events. I will contribute to the Jackson Heart Study renewal by serving as the Co-Chair of the Diabetes Working Group. The overall objective of our group is to facilitate the development of manuscripts and ancillary studies testing hypotheses about the development of diabetes and its cardiovascular consequences. Additionally, I will contribute to the mentorship of junior investigators in the Jackson Heart Study who are actively building their research portfolios.
