Project Details
Description
In my PhD I am approaching this question based on the specific molecular fingerprints of each of the dopamine neuron subtypes, analyzing their role in different cognitive and behavioral functions. This has the potential to improve our understanding of the causes of Parkinson, Schizophrenia, addictions and ADHD, as well as facilitate research on their prevention and treatments. The Dombeck lab pioneered the imaging of neuronal activity in live mice immersed in virtual reality environments, a technique I will use to analyze the specific role of each subtype in different fundamental cognitive and behavioral functions.
