Medill Media Teens

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Medill Media Teens is a two-year program that brings together socially conscious Medill undergraduates and motivated Chicago high school teens in a distinctive mentoring environment that focuses on journalism production and media awareness. Our teens gain hands-on journalism experience through mentor-guided activities: writing print stories and shooting/editing audio, video and photography. These teens also develop an understanding of journalism values and ethics through guided discussions and activities that cover topics ranging from reliable vs. unreliable news sources to the relevance of journalists in the modern social media-driven news environment.
