Project Details
Description
mRNA therapy has the potential to help over 1 million people in the USA and Australia who suffer pain and debilitation due to chronic spinal cord injuries. I propose to incorporate mRNA into regenerative nanomaterials to stimulate the production of proteins that dissolve the inhibitory glial scar and facilitate complete recovery. I will perform this work in The Stupp Laboratory at Northwestern University, which is renowned for its interdisciplinary work making biomaterials for regenerative medicine. The expertise and professional relationships I acquire in the USA will allow me to contribute to the national research goals of Australia into the future.
