MicroRNA Biomarkers of Systemic Inflammation and Outcome in SAH

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This multicenter study consists of a central coordinating center (CCC) and 3 spoke sites, one of which also serves as the Bioinformatics Core (UCSF). We will recruit 90 subjects between the CCC and UCSF, and 10 or more subjects per site at 2 additional spoke sites, resulting in 110 subjects over 1 year. We will use the NIH SAH common data elements (CDEs) to standardize endpoints and harmonize data and biospecimen collections across sites. The CCC will train sites on biospecimen standard operating procedure, centrally bank biospecimens and assess 90-day functional (mRS) and cognitive (MoCA) outcomes across sites. Systemic inflammation is pragmatically defined by Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) criteria. Pre-specified subgroup analyses include SAH clinical grade (WFNS <3 vs >3), angiographic vasospasm, and delayed cerebral ischemia.
