Description
Specific aim(s)/objective(s):
We hypothesize that the loss-of-function of miR-21 contributes to the deregulation of genes involved in neurodegeneration Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related disorders. To test this hypothesis, we proposed to: 1) assess the expression of miR-21 in AD and other tauopathy subjects; and 2) analyze to what extent changes in miR-21 levels alter neuronal survival of hippocampal neurons exposed to beta-amyloid (Aβ) oligomers.
