Description
Statement of Work at Northwestern University:
This project is to investigate the basis for pain in association with osteoarthritis (OA)
Dr. Richard J Miller is a professor in the department of Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry at the Northwestern University Medical School. As PI of this sub-project, Dr. Miller will carry out work as follows.
1) To assist with the use of confocal microscopy in the identification of subsets of sensory neurons involved in OA pain
2) To conduct electrophysiological studies on the properties of sensory neurons using OA models prepared by Dr. Malfait at Rush Univ.
3) To perform Ca imaging studies on the DRG of mice using OA models prepared by Dr. Malfait at Rush Univ.
4) To create transgenic mice expressing tomato lectin and other reporters in different populations of sensory neurons to be tested in OA models of pain to be produced by Dr. Malfait at Rush Univ.
