Description
Aim 1: Model the association between Medicaid insurance and sterilization fulfillment after adjusting for clinical and demographic differences in a pooled multi-institution sample.
Dr. Miller will oversee a local research assistant in the identification and chart abstraction of obstetric inpatient and outpatient electronic medical record data. This abstracted data will be stored in a secured database (REDCap). Dr. Miller will assist in the analysis and dissemination of study results.
Aim 2: Identify attitudes, beliefs, and practices of postpartum women and their obstetricians regarding postpartum sterilization.
Dr. Miller will oversee a local research assistant in the qualitative research aim. She will assist Dr. Arora and the other Co-Is (Drs. Gossett and White) in creation and iterative revision of the interview guide. She and her research assistant will participate in an in-person qualitative research training session. She will assist in the identification and facilitation of interviews of patients and physicians, analysis, and dissemination of study results.
Aim 3: Assess the impact of hospital and state policy barriers on postpartum sterilization.
Dr. Miller will assist in the identification of relevant hospital and state policies on sterilization from Aim 2. She will assist in the analysis and dissemination of study results.
