Neuroscience, Immunology, Social Adversity and the Roots of Addictive Behaviors: Toward a New Framework for Drug Use Etiology and Prevention

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

• Assist UGA team in developing and optimizing protocols for blood collection and neuroimaging sessions. • Analyze roughly 1200 blood samples collected from rural African-Americans, quantifying levels of inflammatory (C-reactive protein, interleukins-6, -8, and -10, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha and cardiometabolic biomarkers (insulin, glucose, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides). • Analyze data from roughly 1200 magnetic resonance imaging sessions collected from rural African-Americans, providing statistical analyses of structural, resting-state, and task-related scans probing threat and reward areas. • Collaborate with UGA team on statistical analysis, results interpretation, and manuscript preparation.
