New Methods for Advancing Polymer Science

The Wang group advances the discovery, design, and fundamental understanding of polymeric materials by inventing and adapting methods for engineering and characterization from other disciplines without substantial established overlap, such as bioimaging or protein engineering. We promote adoption of these methods both by example, through demonstrations of capabilities offered by new methods, and by eliminating key bottlenecks to wide accessibility. This approach plays to our strengths: scientific interests and skills that are both deep and broad, often far outside of our traditional field. Our guiding principle is that new methods often open up completely new fields of chemistry, by both answering longstanding questions and offering completely new insights.
