Project Details
Description
The aim of this project is to develop a local infrastructure to aid in ultimately identifying the genetic and biological basis of Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders through formation of a biorepository data bank. The development of a biorepository specimen bank will allow investigators to study disease mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders at a cellular level with the goal of developing methods of stopping disease progression and improving therapies. Additionally, it will enable research that will expand knowledge regarding the pathology of Parkinson’s disease and may lead to the development of patient-derived stem cell models for PD and other neurodegenerative disorders.
