Acute rejection is a common complication after liver transplantation that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The objective of this R21 is to determine if we can identify blood proteins in liver transplant recipients that can be used to detect acute rejection before and the time of its occurrence. This project would set the stage for future important studies using these protein markers to allow for safer modification of immunosuppressive therapy to monitor for and ultimately reduce acute rejection.
