Novel reactive lipid mediators underlie the emergence of AF triggers in the posterior left atrium

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The objectives are to define precisely the pathologic characteristics of atrial tissue from 3 groups of dogs participating in this study: 1) control dogs that receive no atrial pacing; 2) dogs that receive rapid atrial pacing and eventually developed atrial fibrillation; and 3) dogs subjected to rapid atrial pacing that are also treated by 2-HOBA. Tissue will be harvested at Northwestern University, with samples taken from the left atrial posterior wall, the left atrial appendage, and the right atrial posterior wall. These will be shipped to Vanderbilt for analysis.
