Description
Northwestern University will work with BSCS Science Learning staff to assist development of the Physics High School Course for Jan to Dec 2021. This will include the following components of work:
• Assist Physics Lead at BSCS in course-wide development planning.
• P.1 (Electricity): Collaborate with the Physics Course Lead at BSCS to assist with identifying anchoring phenomenon, developing storyline, and writing lessons.
• P.2 (East Africa Rift): Collaborate with the Physics Course Lead at BSCS to assist with identifying anchoring phenomenon, developing storyline, and writing lessons.
• P.3 (Vehicle Collisions): Act as unit co-lead (along with a second co-lead at BSCS) for unit development, leading the process of identifying anchoring phenomenon, developing storyline, and writing lessons, and coordinating the work of lesson writers.
• P.4 (Asteroids): Collaborate with the Physics Course Lead at BSCS to assist with identifying anchoring phenomenon.
• P.5 (Microwaves): Act as unit lead for unit development, leading the process of identifying anchoring phenomenon, developing storyline, writing lessons, and coordinating the work of lesson writers.
• Physics Course Scope and Sequence: Collaborate with BSCS staff to define the Physics course scope and sequence, including allocation of the NGSS performance expectations to the physics course, definition of unit bundles, and unit connections.
• Collaborate with the University of Colorado and BSCS staff to design the professional learning workshop for P.1.
Deliverables to be completed:
• P.1 and P.5 Lesson plans, slides, student materials drafts for copy edit
• P.2 and P.3 lesson plans, slides, student materials drafts for anchor and early lessons in the unit.
