To complete the action steps and achieve the stated objectives, at a minimum, CTD will reach out to the following schools, districts, and community organizations and conduct the following activities: 1. NUMATS Testing and Summer Program Participation for Chicago & Rockford Students in the schools below: • Palmer Elementary, Chicago • Chicago Collegiate Charter School, Chicago • Chicago Jesuit Academy, Chicago • Galapagos Charter School, Rockford • Funds to cover o Support 4TH -6TH grade students to take the PSAT and 7th-8th graders to take the ACT or SAT through NUMATS and attend CTD summer programs. o 2-3 parent meetings will be held at each site and meetings between CTD staff and school administrators o Total cost, $41,100 for scholarships to the summer program and NUMATS test fees. 2. Students in rural areas or in schools with few advanced courses use CTD’s online program to supplement their school offerings. CTD worked with several relatively rural, lower income school districts in Danville and Manteno Illinois and would like to provide opportunities for their most advanced students to take accelerated online courses. $11,000 for scholarships for low-income students to take courses in CTD’s online program, Gifted LearningLinks. 3. CTD has been partnering extensively with Elgin U-46, Elgin, Illinois, the largest school district in the state of Illinois, with a socio-economically and racially diverse population of students. In 2017-18, we conducted 4 Accelerated Weekend Experiences (AWE) targeting children in grades 3-8. In addition, the district supported parents attending the CTD annual “Opportunities for the Future” conference for the second year in a row. We plan to continue providing AWE classes for students and expand to also offering a one week enrichment program for young children from low income families in the district.
