Project Details
Description
A workshop is proposed aiming to provide a forum for leaders in industry and academia to formulate the long term research goals in the area of manufacturing, particularly manufacturing processes and equipment.
Intellectual merit
Major activities of the workshop include presentations by industrial leaders and program officers of major funding agencies; and interactions among workshop attendees. The expected outcome includes outlook to manufacturing research, suggestions of future research directions and an establishment of a foundation for long term dialogue between industrial leaders and academic researchers.
Broader impacts
A diverse group of individuals from both academia and industry will come together to discuss the future manufacturing challenges and research needs. Presentations and discussions from this workshop will greatly impact the manufacturing community and inspire progress and development through collaboration. The workshop will also invite program directors from multiple funding programs and agencies aiming to have a collaborative effort in working with industries.
