Peer-review of surgical videos to evaluate the relationship between surgeon skill and outcomes following transurethral resection of bladder tumor in an integrated academic medical system

This application proposes the use of a structured, surgical video peer-review process to determine 1) whether surgeon-specific variation in skill performing TURBT is quantifiable across NM and 2) if surgeon skill is associated with the rate of detrusor sampling during TURBT. Evaluating for a link between skill and TURBT outcomes will be foundational for a larger project where we plan to evaluate if surgical coaching interventions can improve surgeon skill and whether improving skill leads to increased rates of detrusor sampling across the healthcare system.
