Photonic Integration Through 3D Printed Photonic Circuit Boards

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This DURIP project will enable the fabrication of novel photonic systems by enabling board-level integration of photonic components. This DURIP proposal will provide us an in-house facility for fabrication of custom photonic circuits such as two-wave mixing interferometers for fiber-bragg grating sensor demodulators. On the research front, the requested equipment will be of immediate use to an ongoing ONR funded project on “All-Fiber Two-Wave Mixing Adaptive Interferometer Based on Yb3+-Doped Fiber for Demodulation of Dynamic Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors.” On the education front, it will help train the US workforce which is a key goal identified in the National Photonics Initiative to retain photonics manufacturing and packaging expertise within the US.
