Pioneer Obesity Research Program

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine proposes a program to solicit pioneer research projects with the potential for high impact on the prevention, reduction, or treatment of obesity: the Pioneer Obesity Research Program (POR). We are requesting three years of funding for these novel projects. A select group of department faculty leadership with expertise in the field of obesity or obesity-related research will review project submissions. Two categories of projects will be considered: 1. Immediate Impact. Projects have immediate impact, through implementation or scaling of proven strategies, on obesity prevention and weight reduction in key populations suffering from obesity or most vulnerable to obesity. 2. Emerging Impact. Projects will generate data on the feasibility of behavioral modification platforms that will be used as preliminary data for large-scale federal funding opportunities.
